Today I’ve got a doodle from my sketchbook. No time to color it today. I like this one though, so you may see it again at some point on my blog. Maybe.

Today was a pretty good hair day.
Really, I just like drawing hair. Someday I might spend as much time on my drawings’ clothing as I do on their hair. Maybe. I might have to draw Rapunzel soon, because she’s got plenty of hair to draw.
Also good today? Stopping by Aaron Brothers to pick up a new sketch book only to discover that when you buy one sketch book, you can get a second one for one cent, so now I have two new sketch books to doodle in.
Yes, my life really is this exciting.

And definitely not happy about it.

Definitely. Good interpretation
You really captured the grounded emotion really wel, haha! Good job!
Great expression. I like the way the stocking-ed feet overlap.
You’ve certainly captured the grounded look very well! Such a grumpy face

Last month (or maybe two months ago?) I watched a little movie called Waiting For Forever, starring Rachel Bilson and Tom Sturridge. Perhaps you’ve seen it. Perhaps you haven’t. Now that I’ve googled a link to the movie, I see that it got a 6% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, which is super. I didn’t think it was that bad. Was it the best movie? No. Were there things I’d change about it? Sure. Did the first half move too slowly, so all of the action and therefore better parts were crammed into the second half? Yes. But I’m a sucker for sweet endings (unless you think Will is a bit of a stalker and a creep, and then you probably didn’t like the ending), so in the end? I didn’t mind the movie. But I’m sappy, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
My favorite part of the movie, actually, was a song (or really two songs) from the soundtrack, both by The Mostar Diving Club. You know how you hear a song and sometimes it sticks with you and hours later it’s still in your head, so you hit the internet in search of what it was called and who it was by? Yeah, that happened to me.
This afternoon I was doodling in my sketchbook, as I’m apt to do, especially these days, what with aiming to draw and post at least one new drawing a day. I wasn’t feeling particularly inspired by anything, and I was beginning to think that I’d have to resort to posting a scanned page of scribbly hand studies. And then this song came on:
And suddenly, hey, I was inspired. I pictured a guy and a girl, maybe they knew each other from years and years and years before, or maybe they didn’t, running into each other, and this was that happy moment, that happy connection.
I told you I was sappy.
I’m happy with the way the drawing came out though. I may or may not have listened to the above song on repeat a zillion times while I drew this. (Only Spotify and my last.fm page know for sure.) If you like the song, be sure to check out The Mostar Diving Club’s other song from the movie, “Worlds Apart.”
Back with another drawing tomorrow.
